Brown Bear

Hunt BR46

HUNT CHICHAGOF ISLAND
OFF 58-FOOT YACHT ONLY $11,500

2012 spring produced 7 boars for 7 hunters over the course of three hunts.  Bears squared from 8-foot to 9-foot 3 inches.

2011 spring was late creating a tough first hunt since so few bears were out early.  The outfitter went 0 for 2.  Second hunt went 1 for 2, but the unsuccessful hunter passed.  The third hunt went 3 for 3 and the best boar squared just over 9-foot.

2010 proved to be a more normal year for success as he was 100% for his 7 hunters, including 5 that squared 9-foot or better.

This outfitter takes a total of 7 hunters in the spring starting about April 25.  Two hunters on the first hunt for 9 days, since it can be tougher if Alaska experiences a late spring as the bears will come out later.  The second hunt is for 2 hunters, 7 days and this hunt has always produced good numbers of bears.  The third hunt is 3 hunters for 9 days and finishes May 20.

Accommodations have been on his 58-foot Hatteras with 3 staterooms, 3 toilets and 2 showers, making this a very comfortable base camp.

Price for any of the 3 hunts is $11,500 and his next available opening is one spot for the first hunt in 2013 or a couple spots are still open for 2014.  Fly into Juneau and take a roundtrip charter flight to the boat for $250. Non-hunters are priced at $2,000 and we have had several hunters take their spouse along on this very relaxing enjoyable adventure.  HCU’s Cliff Graham and Bob Wodzisz have been on this hunt.

HCU’s Bob Wodzisz took his 9-foot 4-inch brownie in southeast Alaska on Chichagof Island this past spring after looking over several bears daily.
