Grizzly Bear
Hunt GR247
ALASKA
GRIZZLY HUNT TYPICALLY 100%
Last year ended his long streak of several years 100% kill on
interior grizzlies when he had an older out of shape hunter that just
could not get around. He ended up 6 for 8 when another hunter hit
and lost his bear. Best boar taken went 8 and a half feet and
several more were taken that squared out at 8-foot.
This area east of Kotzebue
is well known for numbers and quality of bears due to the draw system.
Even though the odds of drawing a tag is near 90% most hunters decline
to put in.
HCU has never had a hunter not take a grizzly on this hunt due to the
numbers of bears and high yielding blueberry mountain sides and along
the river in his area. He also hunts moose in these same valleys and
that also draws the bears. 7-day hunts running September 1 to 20 guided
1x1 are $10,500. Hunters fly into Anchorage then on to Kotzebue, where they
charter to camp. This tag is based on a draw with a 90% chance and
deadline is December 31 and results are in April. Bear numbers are so
high the state allows you to take one every year, no waiting
requirements. Moose can also be applied for at the same time for a
combo hunt priced at $18,500.
