Caribou

Hunt CU375

CANADIAN CENTRAL BARREN GROUND CARIBOU
2009 proved to be the worst year for the Northwest Territory outfitters after Central Canadian barren ground caribou.  This outfitter faired better than most taking about 150 bulls for his 150 hunters.  Many took 2 bulls leaving quite a few taking none. Since 1984 this outfitter has produced a 97% success rate and 2009 was definitely not the norm.  The caribou went further north and were not returning in the usual high numbers during the hunting season.  He has 5 camps, 3 in the N.W.T. and 2 in Nunavut, so he has more options than most.

5-day package guided 2x1 for one caribou is $4,950 plus a $950 roundtrip air charter from Yellowknife, a two bull hunt price is $6,450.

Not included are motel rooms in Yellowknife, packing and crating for shipping, $50 caribou license for first bull and $100 for second, trophy fees of $150 for each caribou, $50 wolf tag, $50 wolverine tag, $50 small game license, $40 fishing license and 5% GST.  Hunts start the end of August and continue throughout September.

Lake trout fishing is world-class and these packages are priced at $4,500 and this includes charter from Yellowknife, 2x1 guiding, license, lures, equipment, float tubes, etc.
