Hunt EK21
COLORADO ELK
HUNT
TROPHY UNIT REQUIRES 15 POINTS
You will need 15 elk
preference points to draw this tag. Last fall HCU’s Cliff Graham,
Wayne Graham, Ed Miller and Chris Pietkiewicz were on this hunt.
Both Cliff and Wayne had bull tags and both scored, with Wayne’s
bull grossing 346. Ed and Chris had muley tags and they both took
nice bucks in the mid to high 170’s. Cliff reported a very well
run camp with experienced guides, great food and just an overall great
trip. At press time the outfitter had hosted 6 gun hunters and all
had taken bulls and archery went 3 for 4. 15 mule deer were tagged
including some monsters; 209 that will net 202, 206 with plenty of
cheaters and a 37-inch spread, 3 in the 190’s, 5 in the 180’s and 6 more
less than 180.
In 2010 his 19 hunters tagged 18 bulls, with 2
grossing over 350 and 2 more over 325. The average bull came in at
301. He also hosted 20 deer hunters and they took 20 bucks,
including 2 over 190 and 4 more over 180. These are typical
numbers for this outfitter. Read on for previous years stats.
In 2009 over the course of 4 seasons all 13 hunters
tagged bulls averaging gross score of 302. In 2008, 19 rifle elk
hunters took 19 bulls with the best grossing 340 inches and the average
bull scoring 300. In 2007 all 17 hunters scored with the top bull
going 336 and an average of 294.
5-day hunts guided 2x1 are only $5,000 with wall tent accommodations on
the early archery and muzzleloader hunts and cabin accommodations on the
rifle hunts. Deer hunts require 9 points to draw and the hunt is
$4,000. If you have the points it is time to use them. Mid-April draw
deadline.
