ELK/MULE DEER HUNT
HIGH SUCCESS AND BIG BUCKS
The only problem with this outfitter is he has a 90% repeat
clientele rate, making it hard to get an opening. He allows his
past customers to rebook up to January 31 and after that it is first
come first served.
In 2010 he had 11 archers take 4 bulls, best 290-inch
6x6, along with 2 muley bucks grossing 178 and 160. One
muzzleloader hunter scored on a 315 bulls. First rifle was 4 for 4
on elk. Second rifle was 2 for 3 on bulls and 4 for 4 on muleys.
Third rifle had 4 deer hunters and all scored with the best in the 180’s
and the rest in the 170’s.
2009 archery everyone had shooting, but only one 5x6
was taken, along with 3 muleys including a 187-inch monster. In
2008 his 10 bowhunters tagged 8 bulls.
He only takes up to 4 hunters at a time on his 6,800
acres located just outside Montrose, Colorado.
Most hunting is done from 7,000 to 9,000-foot elevation in oakbrush and
quakies. Bunkhouse accommodations with meals included. 7-day archery
hunts are $3,600 and add mule deer for $500. Second season rifle elk is
$4,600 or elk/deer is $5,100. Third season is $4,200. Call ASAP for
openings.
