SMALL OUTFITTER
OFFERS SOME GREAT HUNTS
The only problem with this outfitter is he has a 90% repeat clientele rate, making it hard to get an opening.  He allows his past customers to rebook up to January 31 and after that it is first come first served.

2009 archery did not compare to 2008 when his 10 hunters tagged 8 bulls.  Last fall they only took one 5x6, but all the hunters did have shooting.  6 of the archers had muley tags and they scored on 3 nice bucks including a 187-inch monster.

First rifle elk hunt produced 4 bulls for 4 hunters.  Second hunt was slower with 1 bull taken and 3 bucks.  The third hunt was mainly for deer and of the 4 hunters 3 bucks were harvested and one hunter had a bull tag and he missed.

He only takes up to 4 hunters at a time on his 6,800 acres located just outside Montrose, Colorado.  Most hunting is done from 7,000 to 9,000-foot elevation in oakbrush and quakies.  Bunkhouse accommodations with meals included.  5-day archery hunts are $2,750 and rifle elk/deer are $4,000.  Call ASAP for openings.
