Hunt EK629

DECEMBER/JANUARY COLORADO
ELK HUNT 90% SUCCESS
ONLY $4000
This 26,000-acre ranch located in northwestern Colorado is in the Ranching For Wildlife program and is guaranteed 40 elk and mule deer tags, no draw.  They can set their own hunting dates and in 2009 they decided to change their elk hunts to December and January, since more elk move onto the ranch later in the year.  Success was high with 40 hunters taking 37 bulls, including 15 that were either 5x6 or 6x6 bulls and the top bulls reaching 300 inches.  The average bull taken on this hunt is a 5x5 in the 240 to 270 class.

Deer numbers are very high and success is always near 100% with the average buck grossing in the mid-160’s and the best pushing 180.

This is not a physical hunt and older guys will do well here.  Elevation is about 6500’ with sage and pinions, roly poly country with plenty of roads for access.  Accommodations are a 14 x 70 trailer with a couple bedrooms, single beds and outhouse, nothing fancy but adequate.  4-day hunt includes 2x1 guiding, lodging, meals and airport pickup in Hayden.  This is a good hunt for $4,000 with high success on bulls and deer can be added for only $3,000.  2010 season was in progress at press time.
