Elk
Hunt EK680
COLORADO PRIVATE LAND ELK
$3500 PLUS $1500 TROPHY FEE
Here is a small outfitter that has several
privately owned ranches in southeastern Colorado that consist of
agricultural fields along the Purgatory River and some higher mountain
country around Trinidad. On this hunt you have a chance of taking
a nice bull at a respectable price and the hunt is not physically
demanding. Most hunting is watching fields in the morning and
evening.
This past year he had 5 hunters kill 3 bulls. His two
hunters on the first hunt did not have an opportunity. There were
two hunters on the second hunt and they both killed nice 6x6 bulls in
the 270 to 280-inch range. He had one hunter on the third hunt
kill a nice 6x7 grossing 300.
He had 2 archers with no success due to the extremely
warm weather. In 2010 he had 3 rifle hunters and they all killed
bulls grossing over 300 inches, and one archer who took a 5x5.
All hunts are priced at $3,500 with a $1,500 trophy fee. Archery hunts
are 7 days guided 2x1, and rifle or muzzleloader hunts are 5 days. Both
hunts include motel accommodations, but hunters pickup their own meals
at one of the local restaurants. Licenses are over the counter and he
plans on taking 2 rifle hunters around the third week of October and 2
rifle hunters in early November. He is also taking 4 bowhunters during
the rut in September. Elk License is $544.
