Elk
Hunt EK835
UNIT 17 NEW MEXICO
PRIMITIVE WEAPON UNIT
5-DAY ELK ONLY $3500
New Mexico has decreased the number of
non-resident elk tags making it more difficult to draw, but hunters
shouldn’t get discouraged and continue to put in for these trophy tags.
This
hunt has produced an archery bull scoring over 400 inches and
muzzleloader bulls over 350 for only $3,500 and drawing odds are
typically over 20% (up to 4 hunters can apply together). This unit
in the Cibola
National Forest
located in southwest New Mexico
can only be hunted with archery gear or muzzleloaders, attributing to
the quality of bulls taken on this hunt. Archery has three 6-day
hunts, September 1-6, 11-17 and 19 to 24. Muzzleloader hunters can
put in for the first hunt October 13 to 17 or the later October 20 to
24.
The outfitter provides a very nice tent camp, meals and 2x1
guiding. Hunters fly into Albuquerque and rent a car. HCU has had many
satisfied customers with this outfitter. This hunt is definitely worth
the application. April draw deadline.
