TROPHY MOOSE AREA IN ALASKA CONTINUES 100% SUCCESS
This may very well be the best moose hunt in Alaska.  The outfitter has been 100% success past years and the average bull has gone over 60 inches.  Last fall his 4 hunters took 4 bulls and the best one had a spread just shy of 69 inches.  They also took 62, 61 and 58-inch bulls.  4 days was the longest anyone had to hunt.  He had 3 hunters in 2008, all scored and the best bull had a 68-inch spread.

One of the main reasons this trophy area produces such great bulls is it is a draw.  Although the odds are a high 40% it chases some hunters away.

The season is from September 1 to 20, but early has been better for calling and they are normally tagged out by September 8.  10-day hunts guided 1x1 are $13,000, moose/caribou combos are $15,000 and moose/grizzly is $17,500 and has also been 100% success.  Grizzly tags are on a 90% draw basis and he has had only one hunter not tag a bear in the past several years.

Hunters fly from Anchorage to Kotzebue, where they charter to camp.  Draw application deadline is December 31 and results are out in March.
