BARGAIN PRICED ALASKAN MOOSE
$10,000 FOR 10 DAYS 100% IN 2011
Here is a great opportunity for a couple
hunting buddies to go for Alaska Yukon moose guided 2x1 for only $10,000
each. Last fall all 4 hunters took bulls with the best one going
61 inches. One hunter also took a grizzly on a trophy fee.
The outfitter owns 2 bordering concessions and no
other guides or outfitters are allowed in his areas. Moose numbers
appear to be up and he saw as many as 20 in one bunch. In 2010 he
had a husband/wife couple and after the husband scored on a 58-inch bull
they went back to base camp and didn’t hunt the remaining 4 days.
He also had 2 buddies and one scored on a 56-inch bull and the other had
a shooter at 12 yards, but got the fever and couldn’t shoot. In
2009 he had 5 hunters take 4 bulls and the unsuccessful hunter had to
leave early due to a kidney-stone attack. In 2008 his hunters took
7 bulls with the widest coming in at 61 inches. The area is known
to produce heavy massed bulls with good brow tines, but not necessarily
the widest spreads.
Two 10-day hunts guided 1x1 are $12,500 or 2x1 is $10,000 and run from
September 8 to 28. The later hunt is typically better due to more
movement during the rut. Once you have taken your bull, grizzly can be
hunted for an additional $5,000 and quite a few grizzlies were seen last
fall. The outfitter works hard to get you a grizzly and this can
involve several moves by plane. In 2009 two grizzlies were taken. The
outfitter is well known for his piloting skills and he acquired his
areas from his father many years ago and continues to run this personal
family operation. Hunters fly into Anchorage and rent a car or take a bus to
Slana where they are met. No charter flights.

Thomas Crawshaw and his nice bull.
