MEXICO MULE DEER YOUR BEST BET FOR A GIANT
Last winter quality was down due to the drought in Sonora.  Still they took a 201, 3 in 190’s, 6 in the 180’s and 2 grossed 175.  In 2009 the 12 bucks taken included 2 in the 200’s, 4 in 190’s, 4 in 180’s and 2 just under 180.  In January of 2008 the 12 bucks taken included 3 going from 200 to 217, 5 in the 190’s and 4 in the 180’s.  Success has been very high, along with quality, the only variable has been the amount of moisture affecting antler growth. 

This American outfitter has exclusive rights to 5 large ranches from about 35,000 to 40,000 acres each north of Hermosillo and has kept his hunter numbers low to keep trophy quality high.  He also has over 30 miles of drip lines and this is key.  Methods vary from glassing, spot and stalk, to riding on high-rack pickups, with success close to 90 percent.
